Micro-Trains 098 00 132 - 50' Airslide Covered Hopper - Union Pacific #20584
These 4180 cu. ft. Airslide hoppers with Barber Roller Bearing trucks were built in 1973. With a special epoxy lining, these cars were specifically designed for use with fine-grained commodities, like powdered sugar, that could settle en-route making unloading difficult. Union Pacific is now exclusively a freight railroad with over 32,000 miles of track, but prior to 1971, UP also operated numerous passenger trains and services.
